We’re back with another fun edition of our Pinto Carpentry Local Community Calendar. As residents of Union County and lifelong New Jerseyans, we love to spend time with our family and friends exploring all our state has to offer. Check out our listing of great family friendly activities for the month of February! We’ve also included some very special events for Black History Month.
Every Thursday in February from 2PM to 4PM, head over to the Englewood Public Library in Englewood, NJ for the 6th Annual Black History Month Film Series. Screenings include “Respect, “Judas and the Black Messiah”, “Ray”, and “Round Midnight.”
On Saturday, February 4th, take a trip down to Trenton at the Mercer County Community College James Kerney Campus Gallery and enjoy The Melanin Market at the Black Business Expo from 10AM to 4PM!
On February 9th from 6PM to 7PM, the Cranford Public Library is hosting the “Who Was/Is…” Book Club with a special edition for Black History Month.
On February 10th, head over to The DIY Joint in Union City NJ after you sign up online for “Intro to Lathe: Bowl Turning” or “DIY Midcentury Table” Workshops!
On February 11th at the Dr. John Grieco Elementary School in Englewood, NJ is the Bergen County NAACP’s 3rd Annual Black History Month Health Fair, happening from 10AM to 2PM.
On February 10th, 11th, and 12th from 1PM to 5PM at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison New Jersey, carpenters of all skill levels will appreciate “The Wood Working Show.”
On February 15th, head over to El Toro Loco in South PLainfield for a creative evening at the Family Paint Party event starting at 7:30PM.
On February 18th from 12PM to 5PM this year’s “A Black History Month Celebration” event will have jazz music, dance, refreshments, and a special guest speaker, all for free at the at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center!
On February 19th in Montclair NJ, head over from 12PM to 3PM for a Guided House Tour at the Montclair History Center. You’ll nejoy a guided tour at the Nathaniel Crane House and get an up-close-and-personal look at rare documents and artifacts.
On February 25th in Piscataway, families can enjoy the 4th Annual African American Read-In event at the Kennedy Library. If you’d like to participate, you can also bring along your own favorite book or just come to listen to the other stories.
On February 26th 2023 from 2PM to 6PM head out to the Neighborhood House Association on West 4th Street in PLainfield for a Black HIstory Month Pop Up Shop. You’ll have an opportunity to shop from local vendors and creators, enjoy live poetry, and other local entertainment! Admission is just $10 for the 4 hour kong event.
On February 28th at the Woodbridge Main Library starting at 7PM, enjoy a wonderful evening of history and music with “A Look at Black History Through Jazz” event!
