Welcome to another edition of Pinto Carpentry’s community calendar! We’re bringing you a jampacked month of family fun and festive events to keep you happy and warm this holiday season. We’ve got community holiday parties, tree lightings, family outings, and other seasonal cheer. And, as always, please feel free to list your events in the comments on our blog and as a comment on our social media so our readers can find more fun activities.
On December 8th, the local Plainfield Public Library is hosting the Memoir Writing Club workshop from 10:30AM to 12PM centered on writing and discussing a new topic each month. Registration is required and it is a hybrid learning event.
December 8th at the Kenilworth Library, bring your knitting or crochet or other yarnwork project and join the local Yarnies group for adults. Novices to experts are all welcome, as it’s about community bonding and creating with friends. No experience is necessary and it’s free to attend!
December 10th at Warren Recreation at 46 Mountain Boulevard in Warren, head over for a fun outdoor family fun event at the Holiday Festival from 4PM to 7PM. There will be horse and carriage rides, a petting zoo, an ice sculpting carver and much more!
On December 10th at the Brook Arts Center in Bound Brook head over from 12PM to 2:30PM for the Polar Express Holiday event! Get your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out
December 10th at the Morris Plains Community Center in Morris Plains, join in the fun from 2PM to 8PM for a special Community Christmas Party to help benefit the “Neighbors in Need” program and local unhoused population. Tickets for this festive community event are available here at this link. There will be free activities and resources, and even Santa himself will be making a special appearance to hand out holiday gifts! Resources will also be available for those in need including: free clothing, a hot meal, christmas stocking hygiene kits, hair styling and barbers, vaccinations and health screenings, and special guests to do face painting, makeovers, arts and crafts, and more! It’s a wonderful community event to get together for the season.
December 11th at the South Plainfield Borough Office in South Plainfield is the South PLainfield Christmas Tree Lighting and other holiday festivities from 5PM to 6:30PM.
On Sunday December 11th from 2PM to 3PM in South Plainfield, head over to Purses and Proverbs for an afternoon of jewelry crafting with dried florals and resin!
On December 11th from 2PM to 3PM at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) come on out for a free event in the community space! Enjoy an afternoon of “StorySlam” at 24 Rector Street in Newark.
December 11th at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit, families and friends of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend the Festival of Trees! There will be an outdoor winter festival celebrating Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, and the Winter Solstice all wrapped up in one. There will be games, arts and crafts, musical performances, special guests, stories and so much more. You don’t want to miss out!
On December 14th at the South Plainfield Public Library, families can come out to learn more about different winter festivities and holidays which all feature lights as an integral part of their celebrations! There will be story time, crafting, cookies, hot cocoa, and more. It’s all happening from 6:30PM to 7:30PM.
On December 16th in Rahway ,come on down and enjoy the Christmas Winter Wonderland Festival of Rahway from 3PM to 6PM!
On December 17th from 12PM to 4PM, head into Downtown Cranford for the annual Holiday Sweets and Treats Walk!
On December 18th at Trek Bicycle Summit in Summit, bicycle enthusiasts will enjoy a holiday-themed group ride with a casual paced ride suitable for all ages and skill levels! It’s a beautiful way to get into the holiday spirit. Ride is happening from 4PM to 6PM.
On December 18th in Morristown, head into the center of town from 12PM to 7PM for the Annual Christmas Festival on the Green at 10N Park Place in Morristown. There will be activities with Santa and other residents of the North Pole starting at 12 and then from 1PM to 3PM there will be photo ops. Additionally there will be musical performances, fun activities, and lots of holiday merriment!
Now through the end of December, enjoy the Christmas Lights at the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange!
On December 28th at the Liberty Hall Museum in Union, head over for a lovely Holiday Afternoon Tea from 2PM to 4PM in the grand tradition of Mary Alice Kean, former resident of the Liberty Hall House! You won’t want to miss this gorgeous event.
