Did you know that this week is Community Garden Week? When we’re not busy with projects in the Pinto Carpentry woodshop or puttering around with projects in our own homes, we love to spend time outdoors soaking in the sunshine in our gardens.

Today’s blog is dedicated to great ideas for outdoor woodworking! Whether you’re planting herbs, flowers, or fruit, you’ll have a blast with these fun woodworking project ideas and construction projects for your home or community garden! We’re also sharing some great local properties who offer Community Gardening plots to those who don’t have large yards or may live in an apartment/condo without gardens.

Create a Bird House or Bat House for Your Garden


The Spruce.com has collected 32 different styles of free DIY birdhouse plans so you can create your own and cuztomize it to your liking! We love that these include clear instructions, easy to follow diagrams, and project options for all ages and skill levels. They’re a perfect craft to do with your kids over Spring Break, too!


Bats are a gardener’s best friend! They help keep out unwanted pests and bugs away from your crops and beautiful flowers. You can keep your garden safe and help protect these endangered critters, too! This DIY bat house from National Wildlife Federation is a great option. Or you can try this fun idea from This Old House.


Encourage local birds to procreate and establish a home on your land with these charming Nesting box plans from Empress of Dirt.

Community Garden Spaces Near Plainfield, New Jersey
